Jonny Walker Gold Medal?

Jonny Walker has been riding motorcycles since he was 9 years old. Now the 25-year-old competes professionally in enduro, a motorcycle sport contested on mostly off-road courses filled with obstacles.

After Walker suffered a crash that resulted in a fractured fibula, CrossFit aided his recovery and helped him regain confidence in his body. His main goal is winning the SuperEnduro World Championships, and he’s been training at CrossFit Cumbria in order to achieve it.

“Being constantly varied in training is really helpful to his sport,” says CrossFit Cumbria coach Jonny Thompson.

Thompson and Walker work together to create programming that replicates the various time domains in enduro in preparation for upcoming races, and Walker says he feels stronger on the bike after training.

The British rider draws parallels between enduro and CrossFit: “Enduro and CrossFit’s kind of the same. It’s full gas from start to finish, and that’s kind of what CrossFit is.”
